The Grandhotel Pupp has been a traditional symbol of Karlovy Vary and western Bohemia for some three centuries as a place of comfort and first-rate service provided to guests from all around the world.
The first of the Grandhotel Pupp buildings was the so-called Saxony Hall, built to order of the then Lord Mayor Deiml in 1701. This act set the tone of the later hotel constructions.
When the glory of the Saxony Hall was rising, the then Lord Mayor, Mr. Andreas Becher, decided to build the so-called “Lusthaus“, situated at a right angle to the Saxony Hall. Since its very first day of existence, the building was named the Czech Hall.
In the year 1760, a native of Veltrusy, Jan Jiří Pop, came to Carlsbad, who up to that year had worked as a confectioner for Count Rudolf Chotek. In 1775, he married Františka, daughter of an affluent local confectioner Mitterbach, began to sign himself as Johann Georg Pupp, and in 1776, he started his own business, Grandhotel Pupp.
In 1896, the Pupp family handed over to the Viennese architects Fellner and Helmer the so-called “Etablissement Pupp”, in order to transform the entire complex and incorporate the individual buildings within the neo-baroque “Grandhotel Pupp”.
The years 1922-1923 represent the climax of the construction and modernization of the entire hotel. In 1951, the hotel was renamed to "Grandhotel Moscow", and later titled by a rather funny name “Moscow-Pupp”, but in the year 1989, it returned back to its tradition and its original name Grandhotel Pupp.
During your stay in one of the oldest European hotels, you will walk places full of history. Apart from accommodation services and excellent gastronomy, you can undergo any of the wide offer of traditional curative treatments in the recently opened Pupp Royal Spa, concentrated namely on metabolism, digestive, and motor disorders, or enjoy the rejuvenating oxygen therapeutic programme, or perhaps the anti-stress treatment.
The moments of relaxation and rest may be crowned by the entire body care (Biodroga cosmetics).
