"WELCOME TO PRAGUE" - welcome cocktail in the Benedictine Monastery in Břevnov, Prague

Admission to the Welcome Cocktail is only possible with the registration badge, which will be given to all registered participants upon their accreditation in the registration centre. The social event is designed as a friendly meeting in the charming atmosphere of the monastery. Cocktail refreshments will be served and a tour of the monastery will be organized during the evening. The number of places is limited by the capacity of the monastery premises.
The conference organizer will arrange transfer of the participants to the venue of the event and back. Buses will be ready in the car park in front of the hotel Pyramida Prague. Transfer schedule will be displayed on an information panel in the registration centre.
Boleslav II. and bishop Vojtech founded Bohemia's first monastery next to the road leading to Bavaria, at the springs of the Brusnice stream, not far from Prague Castle, in 993. From the beginning the monastery enjoyed an exclusive status and the Břevnov Benedictines went as missionaries to Poland and Hungary. The large complex was built in a valley on a regular ground plan surrounding square courtyards. It comprises the church of St. Margaret, the convent and prelature, outbuildings, entrance gate and garden with the Vojteska summer lodge. The present Baroque form of the church and monastery dates from the early 18th century, when it was rebuilt after the design of Christoph and Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer.
