CONGRESS, CONFERENCE AND INCENTIVE ORGANIZER

Information

During 7th-9th of June, 2012, our center in Prague was honored to organize the pediatric EBMT bi-annual meeting of the PDWP and PN group, which for the first time was accompanied by an IEWP educational day. Almost 240 participants (including 40 nurses) from 32 different countries of 5 continents (Europe, America, Australia, Asia and Africa) have participated. The high level program consisted of physician-nurses joint oral and poster sessions or in parallel sessions.

We have listened to 20 educational lectures (13 physicians, 7 nurses) given by outstanding speakers from Europe and United States. Furthermore, 57 abstracts were submitted and were selected for active oral (n=35) or poster (n=22) presentations. 11 oral sessions were chaired by the members of PDWP, PN and IEWP boards covering topics from management of patients with malignant or nonmalignant diseases, infections, late effects and other specific pediatric issues.

The social program was organized as Welcome Cocktail in the historic area of Brevnov Benedictine Monastery and the Gala Dinner was organized in the marvelous St. Wencesland´s Vineyard (Villa Richter) on the hill near to Prague Castle with beautiful view on the city panorama.

The meeting was financially supported by private and public sponsors. Speakers, chairs and registration for selected participants were fully or partially covered by the PDWP. The Congress was organized by local charity foundation DONOR in cooperation with agency Congress Prague and Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology in UH Motol, Prague. 15 pharmaceutical companies and an European educational project (Leonardo, bmtcare) contributed financially to cover other expanses including print of congress materials, program and supplement. All abstracts were published in the supplement of Czech pediatric journal “Pediatrie pro praxi” by Solen publisher.
